Sew nice (2)

another of the (machine) embroidered postcards from Spain, c1959.
I only have this one and the flamenco dancer, so don't worry this won't turn into a series ;).

Sunday Stamps - maps

For this week's theme of maps, I have Egyptian stamps, one from 1962 commemorating the Independence of Algeria.  The strip of stamps come from a cover sent from Egypt to East Germany, and the tape with Arabic on the right edge is where the envelope would've been opened  by a censor.

The next stamp from 1969 commemorates the centenary of the Suez Canal.

I'm participating in Viridian's Sunday Stamps, to visit this week's entries, please click on the icon below.

 Thanks for visiting.

Don't fall in!

The men look like they may be twins.  I wish I knew the colours of the lady's outfit and beret (in the above).

possibly to Windsor Castle (not sure if that is Windsor in the background).  Presumed 1930s.

Sew nice ;)

Sent from Spain to England in 1959.  The lady's flamenco dress and the plant are embroidered.
Would I have bought a postcard like this?  Probably  :).

another day, another picnic . . .

Here they are again, the family we saw outside the church, and then picnicking on the hillside.  I think that most likely they lived in a terraced house, maybe with an extended family, they would have had a backyard, but maybe not a garden, so getting out into the countryside would have been a treat.
