The Little Doctor . . .

"As her temperature's high the poor child has the fever,
But with care I am sure the complaint will soon leave her."

Postally used as a Happy New Year card in Edwardian times (1901-1910) as it has an Edward VII stamp, but I can't make out the year.  This postcard is one of a series, but I only have this one of the set.

  1. It's pretty unusual, don't you think? I wouldn't think fever to be a subject of humor back then, but perhaps they were between epidemics.

  2. Maybe it was sweet, but bittersweet. It's definitely before the flu epidemic which was roughly at the time of WW1, but infant mortality would have been pretty high generally before that.
