  1. It seems like it should have been call Centenary of Dining Cars" instead of "100 Years of Refreshment."

  2. Congratulations on 500! I wonder if things of today will be on post 5,000? A most interesting read, especially on the capacity of the old diners. I wonder if they served Strongbow Cider back when the diner only sat 10 people?

  4. Congratulations on your 500th post! That is an amazing achievement! I have never eaten in a dining car but I have eaten in a train that had been decommissioned and converted to a restaurant.

  5. Interesting cover on a line I've used hundreds of times. Strange that the stamp is the one commemorating the centenary of the death of Sir Rowland Hill of Post Office fame.
    Congratulations on 500 not out!

  6. I like the "100 years of refreshment" line, and the mix of dining cars on the commemorative trip. It must have been wonderful to travel in the dining car in the 1930s. Interesting cover.
    Congratulations on your 500th.

  7. I remember the "old days" of dining cars. They were really quite civilised and really quite pricey to match. Nowadays they've kept the priciness .....

    Congratulations on 500 posts!
