Found snapshot.
My grandad was in Sicily in 1943, and I have a few postcards he bought and carried round with him.  He's not in the above photo, but he's the reason I bought it.

  1. You have to wonder if any stayed friends after the war, or was this the "here and now?"

  2. My grandad stayed friends with one man from his same army 'group' in the long term, but also attended army reunions over the years. So friendships were made some of which survived, probably life and geography presented challenges to keeping in touch.

  3. My old English neighbour fought in Sicily. After the war he ended up living in Holland.
