  1. The name of the Cadillac commune was adopted by the 17th-century French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, who founded Detroit in 1701. The Cadillac division of General Motors is named after him.

  2. Thanks for this info Rob, I googled and didn't find anything out about the chateau, though there are probably many similar in such an area.
