Sunday stamps

For this week's theme of boats and ships, I have the Mayflower. (wiki link)

The cover below commemorates the 350th anniversary of the sailing, with a special cancellation for that date.

The stamp was actually issued on April 1 1970 as part of a set of anniversaries.

I'm participating in Viridian's Sunday Stamps, clicking the icon below will take you there.
Thanks for visiting.

  1. I like the first day cover with them all on. It must be quite difficult to design one for such random anniversaries.

  3. pardon me if I say that I do't really like this graphic style. Other wise, yes an event very dear to many americans, and seaonally appropriate too. :-)
Thank you for participating this week.

  4. An interesting amalgamation of anniversaries. We could see them all again in a few years' time.

  5. Mayflower always reminds me of Uni and the American Civilization lectures...probably one of the more interesting subjects and professors I used to have =) the whole set of stamps is really nice!

  6. I think I prefer the detailed stamps on the left of the last envelope - from a design perspective. But they do all tie in together graphically.

  7. The Mayflower on the stamp at the bottom left of the last envelope is the one I prefer.
