Sunday stamps

I had been hoping for an excuse to post the whole of this set - 50 years of children's tv - so the fantasy theme fits nicely.  I posted a couple from this set some months back - Sooty and Stingray, but at that time I didn't have the set, and now I do. (Click the image to view larger size).

So we have Muffin the Mule, Harry Corbett and Sooty, Stingray, the Clangers and Dangermouse.

Wishing everyone at Sunday stamps a very Merry Christmas.

Sunday stamps

Some more Christmas mail, this time aerogrammes from 1968 and 1969.  I confess that I have never bought or written an aerogramme.

Then this FDC is of the 1977 Xmas set of the 12 days of Christmas (which Bob showed last week), the person who sent this one went to a lot of trouble to make it that little bit different by using pairs of stamps.

Sunday stamps

According to wiki the USA first issued Xmas-themed stamps in 1962, I don't have that one, but I do have the above from 1963.  GB didn't issue Xmas-themed stamps until 1966.

Sunday stamps

It may look like I'm getting the Christmas stamps started a week early, but these stamps from Malta from 1967 and 1968 were perfect for the 'unusually-shaped' theme.

I'm not sure how these 'stable-shaped' stamps were arranged on a sheet, I think it might work with the second row of stamps inverted.

As for size, the Soviet Union often issued large stamps, these 2 are from 1987 from a set to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the revolution.
