I had to look up what this one was commemorating - apparently the anniversary of the first treaty to promote mutual understanding and good will. The cherry blossoms Apart from the Washington Monument, cherry blossoms are also iconic to DC.
Now I have to establish the significance of the 1860/1960 dates for the USA and Japan.
What a pretty blossom design. I thought at first it must be the Washington cherry blossom (which I have seen in blog posts in the past) but the date must have some other significance.
That is a nice stamp that I don't remember seeing before. I saw on the news a couple of days ago that repairs to the Washington monument have been completed. It suffered major damage a few years ago from an earthquake.
i like the vintage look and the dual colours
I've not seen this stamp before!Thank you for participating this week.
I loved your choice since you dont get to see the flower immediately but it's so nice and subtle.
The blossom is very delicate, very Japanese.
