Sunday stamps

For this week's free theme, I have a cover which I scanned a couple of weeks ago for the professions/trades theme, but I only showed one of the stamps.  The cover dates from 1970 and was sent from Egypt to the DDR (East Germany).

1.  this stamp features two of Cairo's well known hotels - it commemorates 100 years of the Mena House Hotel ( this is the one at the Pyramids, and is where Churchill and Roosevelt stayed for the Cairo Conference in World War 2), as you can imagine it has had very famous guests over the years.
The second hotel is the Sheraton which opened that year.

2. this is for the 30th Anniversary of the Egyptian Pharmaceutical Industry.
3  issued for the International Conference in Cairo on the Middle East Crisis.

4.  Finally a nice map stamp for the centenary of the Suez Canal.

I'm participating in Viridian's Sunday Stamps, clicking the link below will take you there.
Thanks for looking.

  4. That is a busy envelope. I like the two hotels - especially the one with the pyramids sitting silently behind.
